It is important that the reintegration of sick employees goes as smoothly as possible. Employers and employees bear a joint responsibility for this. The conversation between the employee and the employer is an indispensable part of this. To promote that conversation, employer and employee are obliged from 1 July 2023 to give their vision on the reintegration process.

Employers and employees must record their opinion on the reintegration agreements at various times, such as when drawing up and adjusting the joint action plan and during the first-year evaluation. The vision focuses on the shorter and the longer term; employer and employee can regularly adjust it if necessary.

The new regulation lays down what is often already the practice. It is intended to promote the discussion about reintegration between employee and employer and thus contribute to a successful process. The obligation to add the views on the reintegration process only applies to documents drawn up after 1 July 2023. This is in one new ministerial regulationwhich was recently published in the Government Gazette.
