While acts such as Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, Architects, Babymetal and The Hives provided the big kick-off at Rock am Ring on Friday at the Nürburgring, Rock im Park in Nuremberg started with an equally varied program. Friday showed once again how broad the festival’s musical scope is.
One of the most important names of the day was Bad Omens, who have long been one of the most exciting bands in their scene with their modern metalcore and dark atmosphere. Volbeat, on the other hand, brought their typical mix of rock’n’roll, metal and catchy choruses to the park. Electric Callboy stood for party, hard guitars and escalation, providing a clear contrast to the classic rock moments of the day.
Ice Nine Kills also fit perfectly into the Friday program. The US band is known for theatrical metalcore and horror aesthetics. A popular German act, Marteria, was also added. Also there: Tom Morello, guitarist from Rage Against the Machine, as well as Three Days Grace and The Pretty Reckless.

Why does Campino think that sometimes it’s good to just keep your mouth shut? Why does he sometimes feel like a drinks delivery person? He provides the answer in our cover story about the Toten Hosen’s big farewell, exclusively in issue 06/26. And that’s not all: the magazine includes the world exclusive 7-inch single “Always just loved” – on which Sven Regener from Element of Crime also contributed.
