The French team won the German Sailgp premiere before Rügen.

In front of 13,000 spectators in Sassnitz, the French prevailed in the fastest sailing league in the world ahead of Emirates GbR and Australia’s Bonds Flying Roos.

The German SailGP team had finished fifth after the first seven races and only missed the first final in its two-year team history by three points.

“I take many good memories of this German Sail Grand Prix,” said France’s helmsman Quentin Delapierre. On the final Sunday, the four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel took over the wheel of the German catamaran shortly before the start of the race and thus caused great cheering among fans.

The 38-year-old founded the German team in 2023 together with initiator Thomas Riedel and is still co-owner. “It was a special week here,” said Vettel.
