
3rd movement – It will now have a clearer ending than was expected in the first movement. At 40:15, Zverev fires a serve through the middle at 197 km/h, Jódar cannot block the shot.
3rd movement – Jódar is allowed to serve, but Zverev determines the action. At the right moment he plays a cross, at 15:40 from the Spaniard’s point of view he fends off a break ball. In the second attempt, Zverev secured the first point in the third set.
2nd set – There’s the second set win for the German! Zverev advances with an ace, but a forehand longline attempt then goes into the net. At 30:30 the German failed to make a stop that probably wasn’t needed in the situation. A failed lob from Jódar and two Zverev aces ensure the German wins the second set.
2nd set – Zverev is there on the return and takes the long line to make it 15-0. He then fires the ball into the net with a forehand cross. A backhand duel follows, in which Jódar’s problems become apparent again. The Spaniard’s stop was a few centimeters short, but he subsequently took a break ball away from the German. An intense rally follows, which Zverev wins with a clean stop. This makes it 5:1.
2nd set – At 15:15 Jódar succeeds in the return, but Zverev responds with a strong second serve. The Spaniard’s strenuous match is now increasingly noticeable; at 40:15 for Zverev, he no longer has anything to counter the German’s serve.
2nd set – Zverev allows himself to be pushed far back, but Jódar cannot take advantage of this at first and gets stuck in the net with his backhand. During the second rally, Zverev slides forward at the right moment and plays longline – the Spaniard cannot counter this cleanly. With a similar move, Jódar then shortened the score to 15:30, a Zverev error brought the score to 30:30. At 40:40, the Spaniard gained the advantage with a risky longline ball, but quickly gave it away with a failed cross attempt. Jódar’s problem with the backhand gave Zverev the advantage and then the point.
2nd set – Jódar succeeds in the returns, but with the backhand Zverev still makes it 30:15. The German then makes a mistake, but makes it 40:15 with an ace. His Spanish opponent then puts a backhand return into the net.
