“In fact, I considered it because of my injuries. But my wife and family encouraged me. So: no! That’s a long way off again,” said the SC Freiburg attacker to “Sport Bild”. In principle, however, he does not want to “kick to the bitter end” because he wants to play football later with his children or in a senior team.
Petersen’s contract in Freiburg expires at the end of the season. Because he’s often only a substitute this season, he’s openly considering the possibility of leaving the club. “After six years, I’m still being asked about my contract extension in the second division. I enjoy it. It would be hard to throw it away,” said Petersen. Rumors that he was in contact with 1. FC Köln were not true. “The fact is that I have not negotiated with any club before,” he said.
