Freek Vonk new voice EO nature series: ‘A huge honour’ | show

“For years I have been making TV programs about nature for the NPO,” says Vonk. “I try to show as many people as possible, young and old, across all layers of society, how incredibly beautiful and special nature and the animal world are. That I can now also become the voice of the EO nature series on NPO 1, and thus somewhat follow in the footsteps of David Attenborough, is not only fantastic, but of course also a huge honour.”

The Mating Game: how animals decorate each other will start on Saturday 4 June. The series tells how animals get their mates in various fascinating ways. Biologist Vonk is a professor at the VU and associated with Naturalis in Leiden. The EO has built up a long tradition with its nature series. The broadcasts are generally highly valued by the Dutch viewer. In recent years, various series achieved a large 8 as a rating and attracted more than 1.5 million viewers.
