What comes from a vending machine, is white and popular on sunny days, and is sticky hands? No, it’s not a soft ice, but sunscreen! Does that come from a vending machine? Yes, from a lubrication post that is. You will also find one in Zoetermeer. Just lubricate!

These posts with sunscreen are an initiative of health insurer Zilveren Kruis. They are in various places in the Netherlands to protect people against the harmful effects of sun exposure, such as an increased risk of skin cancer. Albert Heijn will also place lubrications this year with their own brand of sunscreen, at different locations.

Lubrication post in Zoetermeer

In Zoetermeer you can find a lubrication post at the skin clinic of the Haga Hospital on the Europaweg, and at Restaurant Puurr on the Dobbe. In the summer period there is also one next to the beach of the Noord Aa. So before you get on your bike for a nice cycling route or you sit on a bench on the Grote Dobbe: rub in in advance at these locations. Incidentally, there are also more and more Zoetermeer sports clubs that offer free sunscreen for outdoor athletes.

Silver Cross gives up their website Another tip with which you can rub in well with sunscreen: you have to use at least seven teaspoons of sunscreen per smear.

That is around 35 milliliters at a time. This way you can best divide it over your body:

  • 1 teaspoon for your face and neck
  • 2 teaspoons for your arms and shoulders
  • 2 teaspoons for your chest, belly and back
  • 2 teaspoons for your legs and feet

And don’t forget to smear your ears, lips and the top of your feet. Those are those places that you forget quickly, but that are very painful when they burn.

Some more facts about sunscreen

Hukas (the skin cancer foundation) advises To use at least factor 30. For children it is better to use factor 50, because they have thinner skin.

Have you opened the bottle? Then sunscreen can be kept for a maximum of 12 months. The protection factor decreases over time.

Store the sunscreen with the cap on it at room temperature. If you take the sunscreen out, it is wise to keep it in the shade, according to Hukas.
