Thanks to a late goal by Fredrik Midtsjø, AZ beat KAA Gent this afternoon. Near Valencia, the friendly match ended in 1-0. The Alkmaarders will fly home tomorrow afternoon.
AZ started the duel with Ghent without many basic players. Trainer Pascal Jansen sent the following eleven names into the field: Verhulst, Berkhout, Hatzidiakos, Beukema, Velthuis, Clasie, Koopmeiners, Reijnders, Buurmeester, Taabouni and Oosting.
After 35 minutes, a drinking break was inserted, after which the intended starting eleven entered the field. AZ’s line-up then looked like this: Vindahl; Sugawara, Hatzidiakos, Beukema, Wijndal; Clasie, De Wit, Midtsjø; Evjen, Pavlidis, Karlsson.
Winning Goal
It was a long wait for a goal to the Spanish cunt. Five minutes before the end, patience was rewarded when Jesper Karlsson passed the ball to Midtsjø. The Norwegian midfielder took care of the 1-0 with a nice lob.
Next week the Eredivisie will continue for AZ with an away game against Fortuna Sittard.
