FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) – Frankfurt Airport does not expect the number of passengers to return to before the Corona crisis in 2026. After around 63.2 million passengers last year, the number at Germany’s largest airport is expected to rise to 65 to 66 million this year, the airport operator Fraport announced with its annual balance sheet on Tuesday in Frankfurt. This means that the record number of around 70.6 million passengers remains well away. Analysts recently assumed around 65 million passengers for 2026.

Last year, the company increased its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (Ebitda) by 10.4 percent to 1.44 billion euros, which was in line with analysts’ average estimates. The Fraport boss is planning for the new year Stefan Schulte an increase to up to 1.5 billion euros. In the best case, that would be a little more than expected on the market. However, the consolidated result is likely to decline./lew/nas
