Franziska Preuß gave the German biathlon team the second medal in the second race at the World Cup in Lenzerheide. Two days after bronze with the mixed relay, the 30-year-old won silver in the sprint and celebrated the return to the podium ten years after her only World Cup individual medal.
“I’m happy about second place. If one had told me that in the morning, I would have signed it immediately,” said Franziska Preuss on “ZDF”: “I’m just happy.”
She was only annoyed briefly about her only shooting error in the standing shooting: “I tried to shoot riskily, maybe it was too fast.”
Braisaz-Bouchet rushes over in the end
In the Swiss Alps, the overall World Cup leader made a penalty round and had to give up winner Justine Braisaz-Bouchet from France (1 error) by 9.8 seconds.
It even looked like the World Cup title for Prussia for a long time. Suvi Minkkinen from Finland secured bronze over 7.5 kilometers without shot.
This also has a good starting position for the chasing race on Sunday (12.05 p.m./ZDF and Eurosport). The other German starters did not get among the top ten in the first individual competition of the title fights, but Sophia Schneider (1 mistake) came very close as an eleventh. The 19-year-old Julia Tannheimer also took 17th place in her World Cup debut. Selina Grotian finished 24th after three shooting errors.
