Franziska Preuß swaps skis for a microphone: Why the biathlon world champion is now sharing her expertise on ARD and which other stars are still at the start.
Biathlon world champion Franziska Preuß remains connected to winter sports even after the end of her career. The 31-year-old is taking on a role as a TV expert for the first time.
Preuß will be in action for ARD at the Youth and Junior World Championships on the Großer Arber (Bavarian Forest). As “chiemgau24.de” reports, she will be commentating on the two junior mass start races on Friday as a co-commentator. The competitions can be seen in the live stream in the ARD media library and at “sportschau.de”. The broadcast begins at 10:30 a.m.
Preuß is not the only well-known voice from German biathlon. World Cup athlete David Zobel was also heard as an expert. Former biathletes Arnd Peiffer, Kati Wilhelm, Matthias Dorfer and Simone Hauswald also served in this role.
Well-known names can also be found on the microphone at the relay races on the weekend. The Olympic bronze medalist Justus Strelow comments together with former world champion Benedikt Doll. Strelow recently had to miss the World Cup in Kontiolahti because of a broken finger.
The age groups 2005 and 2006 (juniors) and 2007 to 2010 (youth) will be fighting for medals in the Hohenzollern Ski Stadium in Bavaria until Sunday. So far, 17-year-old Hannes Lipfert has won one precious metal for the German team with bronze in the youth sprint.
