Frans Timmermans receives a big kick from Gerard Joling. It is good that he has resigned as leader of GroenLinks-PvdA, says RTL 4-star. “I was irritated a lot.”

According to Gerard Joling, it is a good thing that GroenLinks-PvdA suffered such a serious defeat under the leadership of Frans Timmermans and that the 64-year-old politician is now resigning from the party. “I say: I can live with that, as long as the Timmermans just sits far away in the caves somewhere for a while,” he responds to Radio 538.

Nasty man

Gerard is not surprised that Timmermans has not managed to mobilize the voters. “I think he is such an incredibly authoritarian, nasty, self-absorbed ball. I have often been irritated by all those statements he made, including the extreme left-wing one.”

He continues: “Just a nasty, nasty look. I’m sorry. It’s not a kick, but it’s the way I think about it with a lot of people around me. It’s just a creep. What do you think about it?”

Not my husband

Radio 538 presenter Tim Klijn answers the question. “Well, it’s not my husband.”

Sidekick Niels van Baarlen: “I understand the feeling that Gerard has with him and what he evokes in people.”

Tim: “He managed to gather twenty seats.”

Gerard: “Well, it doesn’t bother him.”

Newsreader Florien van der Meulen: “He also arrived in The Hague saying: I’m going to make it complete! That was already wrong.”

Haughty

That haughtiness bothers Gerard. “Yes, he wanted to become Prime Minister, but some things just don’t work out in your life. I can also say that to some colleagues!”

Does Geer think it would be positive if we got a gay prime minister with D66 leader Rob Jetten? “I think that is very good for the entire gay scene, especially because he is also a very neat boy. He is well-spoken, he is neat, he is polite, he always looks neat.”

Eurovision Song Contest

Jetten is a good calling card, says Gerard. “I don’t agree with him on everything, but I have seen him a few times in TV programs. He is a really nice guy and he also loves the Eurovision Song Contest. He is just doing well. He has been the one who has been on television the most in recent months. Then I think: you have worked so hard on it, then it should happen.”

What did he himself vote for? “Last time it was Geert Wilders, but my voice has now changed and I’m keeping that a secret.”
