Frans Duijts has recently voiced his opinion, siding with critics like Victor Vlam regarding Gerard Joling’s concert-selling tactics. “I believe this is just a very clever marketing trick,” he stated, shedding light on a contentious issue in the entertainment industry.

Gerard Joling is under fire for allegedly using unfair tactics to sell out his concerts at Ahoy. The criticism began when he marketed these concerts as ‘farewell shows’, followed by strong assurances that there would not be more than two concerts. However, a third concert has now been announced, casting doubt on his previous commitments.

Marketing Tricks: The Debate

According to Victor Vlam, Joling’s strategy involves multiple marketing tricks, to which Joling has reacted fiercely. “Isn’t it strange for someone to be so unkind? He should do his homework better. It’s outrageous to say such things,” remarked the entertainer. This defensive stance highlights the ongoing tension surrounding his concert announcements.

Ironically, Vlam’s critique received backing from fellow entertainer Frans Duijts, who observed, “I think this is just a very clever marketing trick. And let’s be honest: it works, as those concerts are selling like hotcakes. His manager, Wino, has always been great in that regard,” he said in an interview with Nieuwe Revu.

The Reality of Joling’s Career

Contrary to the notion that Joling might retire, Duijts insists, “Gerard won’t stop singing until he dies. He can’t live without this life, without performing, or without his audience.” This statement not only highlights Joling’s work ethic but also his passion for entertainment.

Duijts elaborates, “What many people don’t know is that Gerard is also an entrepreneur. He is involved in various businesses, but he doesn’t showcase that publicly. Don’t underestimate him; I’ve known Gerard for over twenty years, and I’ve seen a different side of him.”

Behind the Showman

Frans emphasized that the persona seen on screen is different from Joling’s true self. “Once the camera is on, you see Gerard Joling, the showman and entertainer. But when the camera is off, you talk about different things. You meet the businessman and hard worker behind the success.”

With concert sell-outs now seemingly inevitable, Duijts expressed admiration for Joling’s perseverance and work ethic. “That determination and drive is something I have enormous respect for.”
