Frans and Mariska Bauer are busy again with the recording of their real-life soap, but why does it have to be done under the NPO flag? Have they already been approached by RTL? “Money tap open!”
The enormous success of the Gerard Joling soap has certainly contributed to the fact that RTL is currently contracting one celebrity after another for its own real-life soap. For example, the channel is working with André Hazes Jr. and Patricia Paay and her daughter Christina Curry. Apparently there is a lot of budget available to make more of this genre.
Jam from refrigerator
Frans and Mariska Bauer are also busy with their soap again. “We did it twenty years ago, of course, and last year and again now. Yes, the cameraman takes the jam from the refrigerator and makes coffee himself. We started recording again last year,” she says at the desk of Show news.
What is it about this time? “We now of course have the birth of little Jan, I have turned fifty. All those kinds of things are included.”
Huge cash coffers
Telegraaf reporter Jordi Versteegden wonders where this is going. “But Mariska, I’m curious, right? Because you now see at RTL and at Videoland, where a huge cash fund is opening. It’s not normal who they all attract. Have you already sat at the table at RTL or are you completely stuck with the AvroTros?”
Mariska: “Yes, we are with the NPO.”
Jordi: “Would you be open to it now that everyone is going there?”
Pots and pans
Mariska does not answer that. “I’m not from the business side. I deal with the pots and pans. I think it’s all good.”
She does have a strong opinion about celebrities who want a soap, but do not want to show their girlfriend, such as Marco Schuitmaker. “If you do a real-life soap, then I think: if you do it, you have to do everything. Then you have to go all the way and not keep your girlfriend closed behind the door, because then it is not real life.”
