Frankfurt Airport boss asks tourists to travel with colorful suitcases to avoid delays | To travel

Stefan Schulte, boss of the German airport of Frankfurt, attributes the delays for passengers to the too dominant black color of the suitcases. As a result, they all resemble each other so much that “they are still difficult to distinguish from each other”, according to Schulte. He calls on tourists to travel with colorful, more eye-catching suitcases.

Get rid of the black suitcases that are barely distinguishable from each other. That is the advice of Frankfurt Airport. Baggage handling is one of the factors that caused delays there in recent weeks, says airport boss Stefan Schulte. Identifying black travel suitcases on wheels is a time-consuming task because there are so many of them. Colorful suitcases are much more striking and easier to recognize. According to Schulte, it is even better to travel with hand luggage only.

In the German media, the advice is met with laughter here and there, especially since Frankfurt Airport also recommends putting your name and address on your suitcase. That is exactly what the police have advised against for years for security reasons. It gives people with bad intentions the chance to break into your home while you are on vacation.

Due to the corona pandemic, Frankfurt airport was forced to do with 4,000 fewer employees. But just like at other airports worldwide, this staff reduction is taking its revenge today after the lifting of almost all corona measures. The travel sector is now fully underway again and the summer peak is in full swing. Germany wants to make up for the shortage of baggage handling personnel with workers from Turkey. Berlin and Ankara have an agreement on this, but due to the extensive security checks, which take about seven weeks, it seems that this path will not be of much use at the moment.
