Frank van Leeuwen has been tipped at the much-watched talk show table of Today Inside for a switch to RTL 4, to succeed Beau van Erven Dorens and Humberto Tan. “That’s two losers!”
RTL 4 has a problem: the station will soon be rid of RTL Tonight wonderboy Renze Klamer will be in charge of the late evening eight months a year, but who will be at the talk show helm in the other months? Beau van Erven Dorens and Humberto Tan despise Renze and will never want to play his summer substitutes.
‘Stop whining!’
Beau and Humberto also lose the viewer’s sympathy with their complaints. “I think it is really crazy that Renze is now being blamed for the fact that the program failed,” says TV authority Tina Nijkamp in Today Inside.
Now Beau has written another column in which he demolishes Renze. “I think it’s all fine, but now it’s over with the whining! Stop whining! Take your loss! Renze got out on time, he was sensible, you stayed there, that was your own choice. Now you have to react maturely and get on with your life.”
Big ego
René van der Gijp thinks Beau is a huge poser, but also does not understand why TV boss Peter van der Vorst has allowed this to go on for so long. “But Tina, did you have an easier time with that as a woman? Men of course have a much bigger ego. If you start something, it’s new and it doesn’t catch on… Yes, it can happen!”
Tina: “That’s true. Then you should just be able to say: ‘We’ll stop!’ And they did not dare to make that decision. Well, you can. I was always pragmatic: well, it doesn’t work, done with it, get rid of it! Yes… And Peter van der Vorst pushed so hard to keep that, but they could also have said: ‘Peter, you are a bit wrong this time, we will stop it.’”
Two losers
Johan thinks that RTL now has a problem. “What should RTL do with Beau and Humberto? They are actually two losers and you cannot put them on a comparable program.”
Tina: “They won’t let them down, but they have to stop criticizing now, because otherwise RTL will also think: now we know, stop this! The talk show is over, I think, yes.”
Who will be Renze’s substitute? Not Leonie ter Braak, she thinks. “It also did not result in many more viewing figures.”
Frank to RTL
Good Morning Netherlands presenter Frank van Leeuwen is a good option according to Tina. “I think someone new will come along, for example Frank van Leeuwen or something.”
Johan: “I think that boy does very well in the morning, very pleasant and also asks journalistic questions. I am also full of admiration for what he has done in De Slimste Mens, because that boy has a very broad orientation. Very clever. I think that boy will be a great one.”
Difficult haircut
Table guest Valentijn Driessen is less enthusiastic. “No, I don’t think so. I also saw him in De Oranjezomer and he is full of himself. Difficult hair and all that. But if Johan gives his approval, then his meal has already been bought.”
