France, Poland and Germany called on NATO to change the deterrence strategy

NATO must change its deterrence and defense strategy in the context of the Ukrainian crisis. This opinion was expressed by the Presidents of Poland and France, Andrzej Duda and Emmanuel Macron, as well as German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, during a joint statement following the talks in Berlin, broadcast led Elysee Palace.

The heads of state came to the conclusion that the alliance must constantly adjust both strategies in the event of a further deterioration in the security situation, in particular, in the implementation of NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence program. Within its framework, the alliance creates military contingents in the Baltic countries and Eastern Europe.

Macron urged to continue dialogue with Russia for the sake of de-escalation in Ukraine

Macron, Scholz and Duda expressed their willingness to participate in security talks, which are also of interest to Russia. They said they would continue to consult closely with European partners and NATO allies to maintain peace and security.

Macron visited Berlin after talks with Russian and Ukrainian counterparts Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky. He met with the President of Russia on February 7 (the main topic of negotiations was the de-escalation of the situation in Ukraine), and after that he flew to Kiev.
