France takes the lead against Brazil before the break. After the break, a key scene in the game occurs.

Despite Bayern Munich’s defensive ace Dayot Upamecano being sent off, France’s national football team got off to a promising start to the World Cup year. Despite being outnumbered for 35 minutes, the Equipe tricolore won the prestigious test match against record world champions Brazil 2-1 (1-0) in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

Superstar Kylian Mbappé (32nd) and former Bundesliga attacker Hugo Ekitiké (65th) scored for the World Cup runners-up in the new edition of the 1998 World Cup final. Upamecano, who like his club colleague Michael Olise was part of France’s starting line-up, was sent to the dressing room early ten minutes after the break with a red card for serious foul play. The Selecao, who competed without their non-nominated veteran star Neymar, were only able to shorten the score twelve minutes before the final whistle through Bremer.

France and Brazil are each testing their form again on their US tours for the World Cup tournament in the summer. France face Colombia in Landover, Maryland on Sunday before Brazil face Croatia in Orlando, Florida two days later.

At the World Cup finals in the USA, Mexico and Canada, France will play its group games against Norway, Senegal and a playoff participant that has not yet been determined. Under the direction of its Italian star coach Carlo Ancelotti, Brazil has to assert itself in the preliminary round against Haiti, Morocco and Scotland.
