The Füchse Berlin have won the top game of the Handball Bundesliga. The table leader from the capital won the third Rhein-Neckar Löwen on Thursday evening thanks to a strong second half with 34:32 (16:16).

The foxes were able to extend their lead in the table. Best Berlin throwers were Lasse Andersson and Hans Lindberg with eight goals each. For the lions, Juri Knorr stood out with eleven goals, Patrick Groetzki, who extended his contract until 2026 before the game, scored seven goals.

The game was very balanced in the first half. After a few minutes, however, playmaker Jacob Holm made two mistakes in a row, which the lions promptly punished with simple goals from counterattacks.

Now the foxes ran after a two-goal deficit. But the guests improved especially in defence. In addition, Füchse keeper Dejan Milosavljev came into play better with important saves, he also saved a seven-metre throw. In the 16th minute, Andersson brought the Füchse team back into the lead (11:10).

Even after the change of sides, it initially remained tight. However, the foxes were better defensively and won more balls. With a 6:1 run, they were able to break away for the first time in the game up to the 44th minute (26:21).

Against the very variable attacking game of the guests, the lions rarely found solutions. In the final phase, the foxes’ strength dwindled, but they brought success over time.
