Fourteen interested parties have applied for the position of mayor in Hoogeveen. Four women and ten men would like that position.
The vacancy for mayor of Hoogeveen has arisen because the current mayor, Karel Loohuis, will leave in April 2024. Interested parties could respond until last Sunday. Three applicants are members of the VVD, one of the CDA, one of the Christian Union and one of the CDA. Eight applicants are partyless or have not mentioned their membership.
The job interviews are conducted with the confidential committee. This is a committee that has been put together by the Hoogeveen municipal council and will conduct the job interviews. The King’s Commissioner, Jetta Klijnsma, is also consulting with the confidential committee about this.
Based on the profile sketch that has been established and the job interviews, the committee nominates two candidates to the council. If the council adopts that proposal, the name of the preferred candidate to be appointed will be made public.
