Fourteen dead in accidents with migrant boats near Greece | Abroad

A boat carrying migrants sank Friday near the island of Paros, in the Aegean Sea. Three bodies were recovered and 57 people were rescued, the Greek coast guard said.

Migrants are trying to reach mainland Greece or Italy via the Turkish Aegean coast or other countries in the eastern Mediterranean. The Greek coast guard suspects that 11,000 people have managed to travel to Italy in recent months. There are no official figures on the number of deaths.
