Four Volendammers arrested for riots during football match

The police arrested four men from Volendam last night for involvement in the disturbances after the football match Volendam – Utrecht on Saturday 12 November. After the match, the football supporters of both clubs came to blows in the center of Volendam.

The police say that after an investigation last night, four Volendam men aged 16, 28, 29 and 32 were arrested. “The men were arrested at various places in Volendam last night,” says the police spokesman. “They were arrested without red-handed, we were able to arrest them after the investigation.”

Aggravated assault

They are suspected of public violence and one person also of aggravated assault. Whether the teenager is suspected of aggravated assault, the police could not say.

In the mass brawl, there was bikes and bar stools thrown. Men were also pushed into the water.

The four detained Volendammers are detained for questioning and investigation. Multiple arrests are not ruled out, according to the police.
