Review
Is Steven Spielberg (79) turning out to be a conspiracy theorist in his old age? Who’s new movie Disclosure Day has seen, a thriller full of chases and the undeniable presence of alien life, could draw this conclusion.
The master director, who based himself partly on a revealing article from The New York Times from 2017, assumes that the US government has kept evidence under lock and key for more than seventy years, out of fear of overreactions and panic among the population.
Disclosure Day
Conspiracy thriller, directed by Steven Spielberg
In Disclosure Day Spielberg uses a group of whistleblowers who have obtained images that leave nothing to be desired in terms of clarity. Was in it Close encounters of the third kind (1977) – his first serious film drama about aliens – there was still a welcome welcome for the extraterrestrial visitors, now the leaked footage shows how the creatures are exposed to painful medical experiments by probably the American government. Complete with heartbreaking screams. Times have clearly changed.
The main characters Disclosure Day – a mathematical genius (Josh O’Connor) and a weather woman (Emily Blunt) – have without realizing it ever had contact with space aliens, which means that one of them has special gifts to understand fellow humans to the core.
They are being hunted by a vague organization, headed by Colin Firth, which wants to reclaim the stolen material and uses special investigative techniques. Such as telepathic, lifelike holograms that can force the targets to take all kinds of actions.
Ordinary action movie
Spielberg presents his audience with a series of inexplicable events, all of which are clarified over time. Furthermore, he indulges in (too many) pursuits Disclosure Day sometimes exudes the character of an ordinary action film.
While there are so many more mysteries to be discovered with this matter. He also raises religious questions through a nun who underlines the meaning of this story.
At the end, the director has a nice ending in store. Dreams are also allowed in the current universe.
