In Madrid, four people died in the collapse of a building on Tuesday. Spanish media report that. The dead, three men and a woman, worked on the renovation of what a four -star hotel should be. Three others were injured. The four were missing after the collapse, now the bodies of all fatalities have been recovered.
The incident took place on Tuesday around 1 p.m. on the Calle de Las Hileras, a street in the center of the Spanish capital a stone’s throw from the Central Plaza Mayor square. According to the Spanish newspaper El País the search for the missing could only start at 6.30 pm because the facade of the building had to be stabilized.
Not much is known about the cause of the collapse. According to the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martinez-Almeida, the sixth floor collapsed and all lower floors were taken. Why the sixth floor gave up is unknown.
At the time of the collapse, there were, according to the construction company, that the work carried out around thirty to forty construction workers at work.
