At first it was unclear how exactly Martine V. had died. That is why an autopsy was carried out on Friday afternoon. The public prosecutor’s office did not communicate the results of that autopsy. However, the victim’s body reportedly showed several bruises. According to the medical examiner, it was not a natural death.
The Bruges investigating judge decided to arrest Koen V. on suspicion of murder. During his interrogation, the suspect emphasized that he did not kill his roommate. According to his own words, he found Martine V. lifeless in the seat. The Bruges council chamber ruled on Tuesday morning that the forty-year-old must remain in prison for at least a month longer.
