Everything actually looked like an away win for Nuremberg. But Düsseldorf turned up with the restart.
Fortuna Düsseldorf missed the leap to the third place in the table in the 2nd Bundesliga. The team of Daniel Thioune was able to convert a 0-3 deficit against 1. FC Nürnberg into a 3: 3 (0: 2) fittings-and thus maintain the chance of the ascent. Düsseldorf is therefore in sixth place, the “club” remains two places behind.
Danny Schmidt with a double strike (68th and 71st minute) and Shinta Appelkamp (78.) equalized the Nuremberg leadership. The francs around coach Miroslav Klose had everything under control beforehand. Through hits by Janis Antierte (19th), Mahir Emreli (45.+4) and Julian Justvan (61.), the three points were near, then the late slump followed.
While the hosts dominated the game, the cleverly defending Nuremberg were initially all the more dangerous after ball conquests. After anti -steady lead goal, Emreli first missed the second goal for the Nuremberg in the 30th minute.
In the 38th minute, her defender Fabio Gruber just steered a shot from Düsseldorf’s striker Dawid Kownacki over the goal. Ten minutes later, Emreli ran alone on the goal in the last half of the first half and shot from 35 meters past the goalkeeper Florian Kastenmeier, which was located far in front of the goal.
In the second half, Düsseldorf increased the risk. However, the Nuremberg continued to defend it very wise and remained highly dangerous with their switching game. Only after Justvan seemed to have decided the game 3-0 did Düsseldorf come back unexpectedly, but the victory was no longer achieved.
