In the summer of 2015, Marcel Sobottka switched from FC Schalke 04 to Fortuna Düsseldorf without playing professionally. Today, only captain Adam Bodzek (36) and striker Rouwen Hennings (34) have played more games for the Rhinelanders in the current F95 squad than the 27-year-old. Fortuna Düsseldorf sees talks with Sobottka as a “priority”
“Nothing has happened yet. We have to catch up. So it’s clear that we can’t set the course for the future right now,” commented sports director Klaus Allofs on Sobottka’s personnel. “We had the first conversation with the coach about it last week. Of course we are in talks with all the players, but of course we also have priorities.”
