Fortuna Düsseldorf dropped important points in the promotion race. At Karlsruher SC it was only enough for a draw. Crucial: a goalkeeping mistake.
Christos Tzolis scored in the first half to give the guests the lead (37th minute). Immediately after the break, Jerôme Gondorf equalized for KSC (48th). Tzolis then struck back for Fortuna immediately (51′), before a serious mistake by Düsseldorf goalkeeper Florian Kastenmeier sealed the equalizer again. He let David Herold’s shot slip through his legs (63′).
Düsseldorf missed out on going into third place in the relegation zone with a win, close to HSV (38 points). Fortuna now has 33 points and is therefore only in 7th place. Hanover, Fürth and Paderborn (37, 35, 34) are in between. The KSC is ninth (29).
