Jakub Piotrowski’s move from Fortuna Düsseldorf to Ludogorets Razgrad is perfect. After sports director Klaus Allofs initially agreed between the clubs in the “Picture” had confirmed, followed early Thursday evening the official notification of the Bulgarian master. According to the newspaper, the transfer fee is 1.3 million euros plus bonuses, and the second division team will receive a resale share.
The departure means a further reduction in the already small Düsseldorf squad (23 players). “It’s about improving content. We now have hope for further development here. Cuba asked for a move after being given the opportunity. But we will not weaken ourselves. You know my sporting ambitions and we won’t expose ourselves in such a way that we have to cut corners,” Allofs is quoted as saying by “Bild”.
Piotrowski joined Fortuna from KRC Genk in 2020 for €500,000 and has since made 45 appearances (one goal, three assists). “I am happy about this transfer. It’s a step forward in my career. I’m fulfilling my dream of playing in European competition,” he said at his presentation. The third round of the Champions League qualifier against Dinamo Zagreb is scheduled for August 2nd.
