In an anonymous survey for the official portal “formula1.com”, the ten bosses of the Formula 1 teams chose their ten best drivers for the 2024 season. The winner was the same on all sheets. Nico Hülkenberg also got a decent amount of points.
Max Verstappen is not only the old and new driver world champion in Formula 1, but was also by far the best driver of the last few months in the eyes of the ten team bosses. This emerges from an anonymous “formula1.com” survey in which Christian Horner, Fred Vasseur, Toto Wolff and Co. chose their top 10 for the 2024 season.
Verstappen dominated the ranking and received the maximum number of points from each of the ten team bosses. In the final bill he has 250 out of 250 possible points. The Dutchman thus defended his title from the previous year here too. There, too, he was voted the clear number one by the ten team bosses.
Formula 1 team bosses see two big newcomers
Second in the 2024 ranking is Lando Norris. However, the vice world champion ended up far behind his biggest competitor with 178 points. After all: in 2023, according to the team bosses, the Brit was “only” the third best driver. Now he has improved one rank.
Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc completes the podium. The Monegasse received 121 points and, like Norris, improved by one place compared to the previous year.
The biggest climbers within the top 10 are Norris teammate Oscar Piastri and Mercedes driver George Russell. The young Australian and the Briton each moved up three places.
Hülkenberg is also one of the best drivers of the season
Meanwhile, the biggest dropout is one of the biggest names in Formula 1: Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard was still in second place in the team boss top 10 for 2023. Now the “Samurai” rattled back to ninth place.
The veteran thus ended up behind Nico Hülkenberg, who secured eighth place with 39 points. Along with Pierre Gasly (10th), the German is the only driver from a “small” team to make it into the top 10.
