Cadillac has still given no information about who will receive the two coveted cockpits from the new F1 team in the 2026 Formula 1 season. A media report now classifies how Mick Schumacher’s chances are on the contract.
According to “The Race”, the possibility that Mick Schumacher will return as a regular driver in Formula 1 after three years of abstinence. However, the online portal wants to have found out that the chances of the contract are not too good. Instead, the 26-year-old probably waves a hybrid role.
The Formula 2 champion from 2020 will “most likely” have to be satisfied with the role as a reserve driver at Cadillac. In order to still regularly put in the cockpit, Schumacher could hold the open WEC post at Cadillac Team Jota at the US racing team. He is the “first option” to succeed Jenson Button.
Schumacher probably open to double role in F1 and WEC
One possibility that is “anything but unattractive” for the German F1 hope. The former Haas pilot already knows the long-distance World Cup, he is currently still driving for Alpine-and knows how to please. Schumacher has already been on the podium three times this year.
According to “The Race”, the son of F1 record world champion Michael Schumacher is very open to this option. He could stay close to Formula 1, which still drives him, and at the same time join one of the top teams of the WEC. Cadillac Team Jota won the pole and recently victory at the 24 hours of Le Mans and the 6h race in Sao Paulo.
