Carlos Sainz secured the best time on the second test day of Formula 1 in Bahrain. The Spaniard hit the top teams on Thursday and took the lead with his Williams. The Spaniard needed 1: 29,348 minutes for a circulation and was 0.031 seconds faster than Lewis Hamilton, who was the fastest in the morning.
Hamilton’s best time was barely beaten by Sainz in the afternoon, all other drivers lined up behind the seven -time world champion. Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc did not get past Hamilton in the second half of the day and had to be content with third place – half a tenth of a second behind his stable companion.
In the meantime, the Monegasse had put a lurer and lost the car out of control in the last curve. However, Leclerc was able to continue sudden things.
Behind the Ferraris, the two Mercedes sorted themselves down, which were only separated by six thousandths of the second. George Russell had the nose in front of Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who had taken over the car after the lunch break. The silver arrows were missing 0.430 seconds on the best time.
For the first time, Aston Martin presented himself with Lance Stroll, the sixth place (+0.881 seconds) and was the first driver of the team cracked the 50-round mark this year.
Red Bull was able to recover from his problems in the morning, where Liam Lawson could only do 28 laps due to the lack of water pressure. In the afternoon, the New Zealand, who was one of only two pilots, was able to complete the entire test day, clearly and ended up seventh (+0.904) in front of alpine rookie Jack Doohan (+1.020).
Lando Norris could not be found in the top field after his best time on Wednesday. The Englishman only took 14th place in the world champion successor directly behind teammate Oscar Piatri, but this placement is not realistic.
Because Norris always finished quick rounds in the final phase – including the absolute fastest second sector – but turned back into the box without ending his round.
In the racing simulations, the vice world champion was also the clearly fastest driver in front of Mercedes and Ferrari.
At the end of the field, the usual suspects were on Thursday: with Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hülkenberg, the positions 15 and 16, which were only in front of the two Haas, which with their program almost traditionally rose significantly after the field. Esteban Ocon was 3.7 seconds, Oliver Bearman more than five in the afternoon.
The third and last test day before the 2025 Formula 1 season will take place on Friday. Again is driving from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CET, including a one -hour lunch break. With the exception of Carlos Sainz and Liam Lawson, all regular drivers will be in action.
