It is still not known which two drivers will set Formula 1 newcomers Cadillac in his first royal class season. In the paddock, however, it is apparently rumored that there could be a bigger surprise.
The Brazilian portal “Uol” reports of the Paddock whisper around Cadillac. There it is said that the US racing team could rely on a surprising solution.
What does this solution look like? According to the report, team boss Graeme Lowdon and Co. 2026 could rely on the driver pairing Valtteri Bottas/Sergio Pérez. There are no concrete information, but “many in the paddock believe that this approach will be followed”.
Would mean that the US team relies entirely on experience in its debut season. Bottas and Pérez have plenty of these. The Finn has been a fixed part of Formula 1 since 2013, the Mexican even since 2011.
Cadillac cockpits big topic in Formula 1
If the two veterans were awarded the contract, this would be surprising. So far, it had always assumed that Cadillac would rely on a mix of young and old. For this reason, Bottas and Pérez have been the competitors for one of the two cockpits for months.
In contrast, younger drivers were and are traded in rows for the second cockpit, including Felipe Drugovich, Jak Crawford and Mick Schumacher. It also became known during the week that the US racing team also dealt with a commitment from George Russell. With him, however, the signs are clearly on Mercedes remaining.
The cockpit line-up at Cadillac has been a major topic of conversation in Formula 1. There are only a few free places in the 2026 season. Many talents or sorted drivers therefore have hope for the newcomer to the contract, which takes a lot of time with his decision.
