Formula 1 | Mick Schumacher in Imola: “Dad had a lot of success here”

The countdown is on, the engines of the Formula 1 cars will soon be roaring at the legendary Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola (Sunday, 2 p.m. LIVE on RTL). A home game for Ferrari and a very special race for Mick Schumacher.

“Dad had a lot of success here with Ferrari. The name Schumacher is still very common here. That’s of course very nice,” said Schumacher in an interview with “RTL”. As a reminder: the last time a Ferrari triumphed in Imola was in 2006. In the cockpit? I agree. Michael sSchumacher. The F1 record world champion won a total of seven times on Scuderia’s home track.

Imola, a track that demands everything from the pilots. Especially this year with new regulations. And new balance of power. “No one knows what’s going on with the cars here. It’s a fast track with little grip, which makes it difficult,” emphasized Schumacher. “We just have to go into this weekend and hopefully have a good training session so that we can go into qualifying without question marks.”

Goal? Top 10 – Top 5!

Haas has plenty of reasons for optimism. Last year, the US racing team was bobbing around at the end of the field. And now? Twelve points from Kevin Magnussen are on the World Cup credits. And Schumacher tasted blood, too: “Because we’re right in the middle, it’s much more fun to drive. We’re not yet where we want to be – right at the front. But that’s also difficult overnight. But it’s nice to fight able to assert themselves.”

Despite his messed up start to the World Championship so far, “I feel on the right track, I feel good in the car with this team,” emphasized Schumacher. “Hopefully we’ll have a good year. My goal is to consistently score points. That we’ll be in the top 10, top 5 more often.” This is an announcement.
