Formula 1 record world champion Lewis Hamilton paid his inaugural visit to Ferrari headquarters on Monday and inspected an important part of his new working environment. The Brit had one detail changed on his new racing car.

The Ferrari era of Formula 1 record world champion Lewis Hamilton really began on Monday. The seven-time champion paid his first official visit to the headquarters in Maranello and was not only there to personally say Ciao to the numerous employees.

The main focus of Hamilton’s visit was preparation for his first test drives in the red racer, which will take place in January. The 40-year-old should accelerate on the company’s own track in Fiorano on Wednesday – if the weather cooperates.

Hamilton tests in Ferrari’s Formula 1 simulator

To ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible, Hamilton has already completed a few training laps in the simulator, according to “Autosport”. According to Ferrari, technical meetings and briefings were held to prepare the newcomer for his first assignment.

According to Autosport, Hamilton also made a change to his new Ferrari steering wheel during an initial fitting to adapt it to his needs. However, it is not known exactly what was changed.

The whole of Maranello has Hamilton fever

The arrival of the seven-time Formula 1 world champion has sparked unprecedented euphoria in and around Maranello in recent days. According to “Autosport”, all hotels in the area are completely booked. Maranello’s mayor Luigi Zironi is said to have initiated additional security measures around the test track in order to cope with the expected increase in traffic.

Hamilton’s move from Mercedes to Ferrari shook Formula 1 to its foundations at the beginning of 2024 and dominated the headlines for months. It is not officially known how long the superstar’s contract with Scuderia will last. However, English media speculated last week that it would last three years.
