Start 2nd training
The traffic lights are green, the start of the 2nd training in Montréal, QC has taken place! After nothing went right in the first practice session, the drivers now have 90 minutes to find the right setup for the car.

Rain is forecast in Montreal for the next few days. For Friday, the probability of a shower is still relatively low at 40 percent. The track temperature is 39 degrees, the air temperature is 23 degrees.

A lot of work has been done in the last few minutes and just in time for the start of the 2nd practice session, it is believed that the technical problems around the track have been resolved. Training should start in 14 minutes.

The raw numbers
In the 1st training session there wasn’t much driving and that is reflected in the result. With just three laps, Valtteri Bottas set the best time of 1:18.728 minutes. Local hero Lance Stroll was second ahead of Fernando Alonso. Only twelve pilots had ever set a time. For three pilots, including the Mercedes drivers, it wasn’t even possible to leave the garage. Of course, the result is not meaningful.

Nothing works in the first training session
Unusual start to the race weekend in Canada: The 1st practice session was brought to a standstill after a technical problem with the video surveillance around the track. The red flags came out just under four minutes into practice. Originally because Pierre Gasly had to park his Alpine. However, the training was not restarted afterwards. The FIA communicated a little later that there would be difficulties with the track cameras and for safety reasons it would not be possible to drive without them. After 50 minutes, it was finally decided to draw the line prematurely.
