
Verstappen switched to the hard tires and was only in 16th place. At the restart, Leclerc led the field ahead of Norris, who had moved ahead of Antonelli shortly before the safety car – and finally took the lead from the Monegasque on lap 13. Shortly afterwards, the Mercedes shooting star also passed the Ferrari.
Norris took the lead, only Antonelli was able to keep up with the pace. The Italian pitted a lap earlier and shortly afterwards grabbed the McLaren, and a short time later he took the lead on the track from Verstappen, who had stopped earlier.
As the rain continued to fall, Antonelli monitored the race until he reported gearbox problems. Norris worked his way back, but couldn’t make it past.
