Former VTI Bruges to the ground for Boevrie . housing project

Now that the students of the Free Technical Institute (VTI) in Bruges have found a new home in a brand new school building near the station, work can start on the Boevrie project in Boeveriestraat. Alderman of Spatial Planning Franky Demon gave the starting signal for the demolition work this afternoon.

Response to increased demand for housing

The new housing project will help provide an answer to the increased demand for more high-quality new-build homes just outside the tourist center of the Breydel city.

In concrete terms, there will be 102 one-, two- or three-bedroom apartments, 25 single-family homes, 8 semi-detached houses and an office space. Parking spaces, garage boxes, storage rooms and bicycle sheds will be underground and will be accessible via the entrance and exit in the Boeveriestraat and an integrated bicycle lift.

“Each home will have an individual geothermal heat pump that will be connected to an underground reservoir. This makes it possible to install underfloor heating on a large scale,” says project developer Stijn Van Hoof. (Read more under the photos.)
