Former player Xander Assen returns as trainer of E & O ladies 2 in Emmen to the club where he celebrated successes as a player

Former player Xander Assen will be the new trainer/coach of the second women’s team of Misker E & O, which plays in the national second division.

Born and raised in Assen, the 49-year-old succeeds Jordi Fiege, who is looking for a new challenge after 3 seasons. The club says it would like to keep Fiege, son of Hurry-Up coach Joop, in another position.

Emmenaar returns as a coach to the place where he celebrated successes as a player

Assen returns to the sports hall, where he celebrated many successes as a player. Through school handball he came into contact with the sport of handball. He joined E&O in 1982 and went through all youth selections to make his first team debut in 1989. He is part of the first selection until the 1997/1998 season. In this period he became Dutch champion three times and won the national cup once. He was also part of the Dutch Juniors selection for many years.

In daily life he is a school principal

Assen finished his handball career in men’s 3 of E & O. In daily life, the new trainer/coach of women’s 2 is a school principal in primary education. Ladies 2 of E & O was promoted to the second division last season. With a third place in the final ranking, it performed more than excellently.
