Open the gas tap in Groningen for at least a year. Onno Ruding (82) made that call on Sunday morning at WNL Op Zondag.

According to Ruding, there is understanding in Groningen for gas extraction if the government generously compensates the province. “Groningers can also count. Times have changed. The finance minister will be happy with the proceeds and it fits perfectly with anti-Putin policy since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.”

In the right-oriented television program Ruding, former minister of finance in the 1980s, spoke about the dire financial situation. The prominent CDA member advises the cabinet to keep the Groningen gas field open longer. “This reduces the international gas problem and Putin does not get the chance to become richer from gas revenues.”
