Bo Svensson has been without a coaching job since 2024. That won’t change for the time being. The ex-defender has recently been the focus of two well-known clubs.

Belgium champions Union Saint-Gilloise wanted to sign Bo Svensson as their new head coach. This is reported by the pay TV channel Sky. However, there will probably not be a commitment to the Champions League club. The 46-year-old Dane rejected the offer because he insisted on bringing his own coaching team with him.

Instead, David Hubert will now take over Sébastien Pocognoli’s position, writes Sky. The Belgian, who once played in the Bundesliga for Hannover 96, recently moved to AS Monaco as Adi Hütter’s successor.

Glasgow Rangers are also said to have had Svensson on the list behind their former coach Steven Gerrard. Russell Martin was fired there after a catastrophic start to the season for the Scottish record champions. The Rangers didn’t just miss out on qualifying for the Champions League. After seven league games, the Europa League participants have just eight points to their name and are already nine points behind arch-rivals Celtic and eleven behind leaders Heart of Midlothian in the table.

But: Svensson also decided against getting involved in Scotland, it is said. According to Sky, the German Danny Röhl is again considered a promising candidate for the Rangers. The former assistant coach of Hansi Flick most recently coached the English second division club Sheffield Wednesday.

Svensson’s last stop was Union Berlin, where he was introduced as the new head coach in the summer of 2024. However, his tenure with the Köpenick team only lasted just under six months. Svensson previously successfully coached Mainz 05 between 2021 and 2023. The former defender also spent large parts of his active professional career at the carnival club.
