Former judoka Henk Grol included in the hall of fame of Haarlem sports heroes

Henk Grol now belongs to the ‘Heroes of Haarlem’ hall of fame. His enormous image hangs on the facade of the Kennemer Sportcenter, next to IJsbaan Haarlem.

The Haarlem Société Pim Mulier ultimately determines which athlete and his or her image will be included in the hall of fame. In addition, there is a hall of fame for now deceased Haarlem top athletes, to which weightlifter Guus Scheffer was recently added. Grol was allowed to unveil his image together with his family. He is now the twenty-fourth ‘Hero of Haarlem’.

Henk Grol is one of the most successful judokas in the Netherlands, with great success at European Championships, World Championships and the Olympic Games. He recently published his book/biography ‘Focus’, in which he takes the reader into his life as a top judoka.

Suspect

It turned out that Grol already had a small suspicion. He drives past the Kennemer Sportcenter every day and had already seen that an extra cloth had been added to the hall of fame. With an excuse he was lured to the sports hall by the Société Pim Mulier.
