Ex-Hoffenheimer trains Club Brugge
According to consistent media reports, Erik ten Hag’s signature as manager at Manchester United is imminent and Ajax Amsterdam already seem to have a successor in mind. As “Voetbal International“ reported, the former Hoffenheim coach Alfred Schreuder is the hottest candidate for the coaching position with the Dutch record champions.
The 49-year-old has only been under contract with FC Brugge, second in the Jupiler Pro League table, since the beginning of the year, where he has scored an average of 2.33 points from 15 games so far. His working paper with the Belgians is valid until the summer of 2023, but it should contain a clause that allows him to leave early for around 1.5 million euros.

Ajax would not be new territory for Schreud, who had worked for the club as an assistant coach under ten Hag for a year and a half from the beginning of 2018. Further positions took him to FC Barcelona as an assistant under Ronald Koeman and to TSG Hoffenheim as head coach, where he was on the sidelines from 2019 to 2020.
Ten Hag should sign with Man United until 2026 – Ajax beckons millions
Ten Hag is to receive a long-term contract with the “Red Devils”, according to “The Athletic” over four years. The 52-year-old is currently under contract with Ajax until 2023. He has won the league and cup twice with the Eredivisie leaders since taking office in December 2017, and also led Ajax to the semi-finals in 2018/19 and the last 16 of the current season. According to a report, Man United will pay a €2m transfer fee to the Amsterdam team. Money that could largely be reinvested directly into a commitment from Schreuder.
