Christian Sailer, who was responsible for finances at the Düsseldorf department store group Galeria until the beginning of the year, is moving to Peek & Cloppenburg (P&C) Austria/CEE.
Sailer announced his new role as managing director at the Vienna-based sister company of the Düsseldorf fashion retailer on Monday on the career network LinkedIn. He has therefore held this position since May.
Sailer will take over the duties of CFO Martina Dutzler on an interim basis and will manage the Vienna headquarters together with Lukas Lobensommer, who was appointed Managing Director of Sales and Human Resources in November. P&C confirmed this at the request of FashionUnited. The trade magazine Textilwirtschaft had previously reported on it.
Sailer most recently worked as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for finance, IT and logistics at Galeria from August 2024. Before that, he was CEO of the Augsburg mail order company Weltbild D2C Group. Further stations included the mail order company Walz and the car specialist Auto-Teile-Unger, where he was responsible for the finance department.
Dutzler has been part of the management as CFO since June 2024. She only headed P&C Austria until August 2025 with Alexander Deopito and then with Lobensommer and Purchasing Director Jason Morgen, who left in January. After almost two years, Dutzler has now left the company.
Job cuts in the distribution center
But drastic changes are not only coming at the management level. Jobs are also to be cut in logistics, reports the specialist magazine Österreichische Textilzeitung. Accordingly, the Strebersdorf goods distribution center is affected, where 87 of 117 jobs are expected to be lost by the middle of the year.
“As part of our company-wide transformation, our goal is to create a more efficient, flexible and sustainable logistics structure,” said a spokeswoman when asked by FashionUnited. “This realignment is a necessary step to ensure our logistics can effectively support our business.”
The current planning envisages the closure and downsizing of logistics locations in the coming months, it continues. Meanwhile, the volumes would mainly be handed over to an external logistics service provider.
