Thanks to ex-BVB gem Youssoufa Moukoko, former Bundesliga coach Bo Svensson celebrated a perfect debut with the Danish first division soccer team FC Copenhagen.
The former Dortmund player scored a hat-trick (6th/25th/51st) in the 7-0 (4-0) win against Silkeborg IF.
It was the first win for the 16-time Danish champions in the relegation round. Svensson’s predecessor Jacob Neestrup was fired at the start of the round after two defeats. The 46-year-old Svensson spent his youth at FC Copenhagen and won, among other things, three championships as a professional between 1996 and 2006.
In the Bundesliga, Svensson made a name for himself at FSV Mainz 05 and between 2021 and 2023, after his time as a youth and assistant coach, he also coached the professionals. He later also worked briefly at Union Berlin (2024).
At Werder Bremen, Svensson was considered a possible successor candidate to Horst Steffen in February, but is said to have rejected the Hanseatic team at the time.
