Daniel Scherning is the new coach of SV Wehen Wiesbaden. As the third division club announced on Monday, the 42-year-old received a contract until June 2028. Scherning last worked for Eintracht Braunschweig in the 2nd Bundesliga from November 2023 to last May and scored an average of 1.16 points in 56 games.
“In Daniel Scherning, we have gained a coach who fits our club very well both professionally and personally. His experience and leadership style will give our team new impetus. We are convinced that we will achieve our sporting goals with him and look forward to working together,” sports director Uwe Stöver is quoted as saying.
Scherning succeeds Nils Döring, who had to leave at the end of October. Frank Steinmetz looked after the team on an interim basis for the last three games. “I’m really looking forward to my new role at SV Wehen Wiesbaden. The club is ambitious and has a lot of potential. Together with the team and the coaching staff, I would like to help shape the future path with full energy and passion and help achieve our goals step by step,” said Scherning. The Wiesbaden team is in 13th place in the 3rd league after 14 match days. In terms of squad value of 8.3 million euros, they are ranked in the top 5.
