Joris van Overeem leaves the Netherlands behind and starts playing football at Maccabi Tel Aviv. The 28-year-old Amsterdammer has played at FC Utrecht in recent years and will sign a contract in Israel until the summer of 2025.
“I am very happy to play for Maccabi, the biggest club in Israel,” said Van Overeem after his move. “My ambition is to take as many trophies as possible at Maccabi. I look forward to playing at the Bloomfield stadium.”
Van Overeem has been playing for FC Utrecht since 2018. Before that, he was a fixed value in the AZ team. In Alkmaar he broke through from the youth academy and played five years in the first, with an interim loan period to FC Dordrecht. Van Overeem played a total of 2013 matches in the Eredivisie.
