AZ has made an offer to PEC Zwolle to take over Mees de Wit this summer. The midfielder has a contract at the bottom of the Eredivisie until the summer of 2023 with an option for another year. Spicy enough, both clubs play against each other on Sunday evening.
According to RTV Oost, PEC would be ‘not unwilling’ to a possible sale. The 23-year-old left leg went through Ajax’s youth academy. He made his professional debut on August 25, 2017 for Jong Ajax against Fortuna Sittard (4-2). He made a total of 5 appearances in the U23 team, after which he made the switch to Sporting Portugal in 2018. The Portuguese rented out De Wit to the Spanish Orihuela in the ’20/’21 season.
Last summer he settled at PEC Zwolle. In the current season, he played 22 matches in which he scored 4 goals. AZ could not yet be reached for comment.
