Former 100m world champion Tori Bowie has died due to complications during childbirth. According to various US media, this was the result of the autopsy report.

Bowie was found dead at her home in early May, aged just 32. The former world-class sprinter was said to be eight months pregnant and in labor at the time of her death.

Bowie had won the gold medal in the 100m at the World Championships in London in 2017 and also triumphed in the relay. A year earlier, the track and field athlete had won the full set of medals at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro: gold in the 4x100m relay, silver in the 100m and bronze in the 200m. Her first major medal was bronze in the 100m at the World Championships 2015 in Beijing.
