A forest fire near Bad Saarow (Oder-Spree) triggered a large-scale operation by the fire brigades.
The fire crews are deployed with more than 30 vehicles and are trying to prevent the flames from spreading to a harvested field, said a spokesman for the Oderland regional control center on Wednesday.
Since the fire area was contaminated with ammunition, the firefighters could only contain the fire from the outside. Settlements are not endangered.
The spokesman was initially unable to say anything about the size of the fire.
